Triton Composite Decking – Care & Maintenance Guide
Triton composite decking is engineered for long‑lasting performance with minimal upkeep. While it requires far less maintenance than traditional timber, a little routine care will help preserve its appearance and ensure your outdoor space continues to look its best.

🌦 Routine Cleaning
General Cleaning (Recommended 2–4 times per year)
- Sweep away leaves, dirt, and debris.
- Wash the surface with warm water and a mild detergent.
- Use a soft‑bristle brush to loosen dirt within the grain or grooves.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
This simple routine helps prevent surface build‑up and keeps the boards looking fresh.

💧 Dealing With Water Marks & Weathering
Initial Weathering
Like all composite products, Triton decking may experience light colour weathering during the first few months as it acclimates to outdoor conditions. This is normal and will stabilise naturally.
Water Spots
Water marks can appear after rainfall or cleaning. These fade over time but can be reduced by:
- Rinsing the entire deck rather than spot‑cleaning
- Allowing the deck to dry evenly

🍃 Removing Stains
Food, Drink & Organic Stains
- Clean as soon as possible with warm soapy water.
- For stubborn marks, use a composite‑safe cleaner.
Oil & Grease
- Blot immediately — do not wipe.
- Apply a degreasing agent suitable for composite materials.
- Rinse thoroughly.
Mould & Mildew
Although Triton decking is resistant to rot, mould can grow on surface debris.
- Use a mould‑removal cleaner or diluted vinegar solution.
- Scrub gently with a soft brush.
- Rinse well.

❄ Winter Care
Snow & Ice Removal
- Use a plastic shovel only to avoid surface damage.
- Rock salt or calcium chloride can be used sparingly for ice control.
- Rinse the deck once conditions improve to remove residue.
Avoid
- Metal shovels
- Sharp tools
- Sand or grit (these can scratch the surface)

🔥 Heat & Furniture Protection
Furniture Feet
Use protective pads under metal or hard furniture legs to prevent surface marks.
BBQs & Fire Pits
- Place heat‑emitting items on a protective mat.
- Avoid direct contact with extreme heat sources.

🧼 Pressure Washing
Pressure washing is safe when done correctly:
- Keep the nozzle at least 20–30 cm from the surface.
- Use a fan‑spray setting, not a jet.
- Maximum recommended pressure: 1,500 psi.
- Always wash in the direction of the grain.

🌱 Preventing Surface Build‑Up
To keep your deck looking its best:
- Trim nearby foliage to reduce leaf accumulation.
- Keep gutters and downpipes clear to avoid pooling water.
- Move planters occasionally to prevent moisture trapping.

Triton composite boards are highly durable, but if a board becomes damaged:
- Individual boards can be replaced without removing the entire deck.
